There is no game. So don't go messing things up by clicking everywhere. You don’t want to be kicked out of your video game world, do you? Of course not!
The Ten Principles of Puzzle Design:
- make the goal of the puzzle easy to understand
- make it easy to get started
- give the player a sense of progress
- give the puzzle a sense of solvability
- increase the difficulty gradually
- have parallelism to let the player rest
- have a pyramid structure to extend the level of interest
- have hints in order to extend the level of interest
- give the answer
- perceptual shifts are double-edged swords
- The Mechanics
The player should not have to figure "what to do"
just "how to do it". - The Catch
Logical contradiction where 2 things are seemingly
in conflict with one another. - The Revelation
Think outside the box, about how the game works
This discovery becomes part of your toolbox going on - The Assumption
Lure the player that he knows how to beat the puzzle.
Why?- Gives the player a starting point
- Help to build a mental model of the puzzle
- Ensure the player fails the puzzle the 1st time
- Focus the player on the puzzle Catch
- The Presentation
Pretty minimalist, with few moving parts,
giving the feeling that it shouldn't be hard to beat
Also: provide clear feedback - The Curve
No puzzle is given to the player in isolation
Criteria to judge a puzzle difficulty:- Number of possible solutions
- Number of steps required
- Number of options a player can choose at each moment
- Number of mechanics the player needs to be familiar with
Edge Not Found is a Sokoban-style puzzle game set on an infinitely repeating grid. There are 20+ puzzles and they get can get pretty tricky.
A video game in less than 13 kilobytes of Javascript!
An excellent puzzle game!
Basically it's "Rush Hour" with portals
The last level is very tough though, I have been stuck on it for several hours...
Chessformer is a grid-based puzzle platformer with Chess pieces. Each of the pieces moves as expected, but they fall down after moving and can't move again until they stop falling. The goal in each level is to capture the opposing king
I loved it!
Really fun, with right level of difficulty and quite original!
The last level was challenging but it was nice to never have to restart it. Good job really, very polished and interesting levels!
Made with the Stencyl game engine

A very smooth adventure game based on logic puzzles: the logic puzzles are short and addictive.
We were 3 players solving them cooperatively, and we had a lot of fun!
It reminded me a lot of Agent A.
Do not expect much from the story, but its lifespan, puzzles variety and intuitive controls make it a video game with a very good value for its price.
Spring Falls is a puzzle game about water, erosion, and watching things grow.
Manipulate the landscape and bring wildflowers to life as you make your way down a peaceful mountainside.
Soft visuals, ambient guitar work, and environmental sounds come together to create a meditative, relaxing experience.
A very relaxing logic puzzle game, with a poetic artistic direction, intuitive (&) fluid game mechanics and smart levels.
I really enjoyed it, it's well worth the price!

Play with a friend! Can you decipher enigmatic puzzles that require constant communication between you and your teammate to solve? [...] Using two separate devices, play with a friend on the couch or even all the way across the globe on the phone or video chat!
Comptez 30-45min. Chaque joueur doit avoir un écran.
Wow, great new logic puzzle I just discovered!
In this logic puzzle you have to choose nine unique numbers (1 through 9) so that each row and column has a sum of 9 or less.

A really nice logic puzzle for amateurs of maths & voting systems!
Aquarium is a logic puzzle with simple rules and challenging solutions.
The rules of Aquarium are simple:
The puzzle is played on a rectangular grid divided into blocks called "aquariums"
You have to "fill" the aquariums with water up to a certain level or leave it empty.
The water level in each aquarium is one and the same across its full width
The numbers outside the grid show the number of filled cells horizontally and vertically.
Note: there is a "Mass Print" page
- Not Knowing What to Do
- The Pixel Hunt
- Cock-Blocking aka "you can't do that -- at least not now"
- No - Not THAT Paper : send the player off in search of something that is represented in the background artwork
- The Pointless Conversation Option
- End objective needs to be clear
- Sub-goals need to be obvious
- Live and learn : no need for "saving"
- Backwards Puzzles
- I forgot to pick it up
- Puzzles should advance the story
- Real time is bad drama
- Incremental reward
- Arbitrary puzzles
- Reward Intent
- Unconnected events
- Give the player options
It’s not overly difficult to generalize what makes for fair or merely “good” puzzles. They should be reasonably soluble by any reasonably intelligent, careful player, without having to fall back on the tedium of brute-forcing them or the pointlessness of playing from a walkthrough. [...] It’s much more difficult, however, to explain what makes a brilliant, magical puzzle
They are inspired by whodunit stories, and two popular classic puzzles : the Sudoku, and the text-based logic grids.

Sizeable is an exploration/puzzle game where the player has to find mysterious pillars by resizing the objects in the world around them! Each level in Sizeable is a completely new and unique environment, wich means each level will have its own unique way of exploration and puzzle solving through the resizing mechanic.
A pretty & relaxing game with very satisfying puzzles.
It reminded a bit of Vectorpark games like Windosill.
